This Sunday, October 4th, Space Jump Live, The Big Apple Sunshine Band, The Repressions, & Ben Absurdo will rip the walls out of The Grand Victory in Williamsburg. Show starts at 7pm. $10 at the door, or your bloody heart over an open fire.

Space Jump Live Band are a 4-piece psychedelic / indie rock hybrid composed of some of Astoria’s hardest-working artists; Justin Finley on vocals, John Keegan on guitar, Philip “Snake” DiFranco on bass, and Keith Malonis on drums. There’s a moody, drone-driven charge to the Jumpers’ music, tempered by upbeats and major chords, like Bauhaus meets the Kinks.

The Big Apple Sunshine Band (formerly the Dead Roses) are a hard rock -driven quartet from New York who play bluesy rock and roll with a rusty vengeance. A tight unit of four interlocking components, no one player is more important than the others. BASB are the Stewards Of Classic Rock.

The Repressions are an art-therapy-funk-rock-vaudeville duo fronted by Barbara Dragun. Their manic theatrics and poetry-panic have pounded stages around Astoria. Giving dark humor a light touch, the band combines sullen silliness with slap-happy sadness, in surreal cartoons as well as songs.

Ben Absurdo is a musician and writer who yells anarchist poems at people while playing guitar. He calls this style philosophy punk. In addition to several live acts, Ben plays in the internet-based bands DiscoAbsurdo and COLOURS.
