Ginger Dizzy is an important song for The Repressions, as it tends to make audiences happy and sing along, which is one of the most meaningful things that music can do. It is also the song that inspired the “vaudeville” part of The Repressions’ style. There are quite a few versions out there, Barbara and Ben, just Barbara, just Nate, the recorded version with Barbara and Nate, but this live performance captured this week actually features all three Repressions… the new definitive version…
Sometimes it is better, or maybe a little necessary, to be hazy and out of it, rather than sad… of only for a little while… Confusion you can choose is better than the blues…
Wishing you a gentle day, friends… Nate and Barbara cover Island Song by Ashley Eriksson (you know that lovely song on the closing credits of Adventure Time…)
The third Repression, Nate Lay, has written and recorded a beautiful song, and The Repressions are honored to have it in their catalog… Catch Nate doing a solo set tonight at the Irish Whiskey Showcase here in Astoria, 9pm.
