April Showers bring April Shows… Here are some photos from the The Repressions’ shows of April 2023:
Special thanks to Twitch Streamer Faustian Organ for joining us for the collab on April 1st, and to the Twitch community Jedi Friends Raid Train on April 23rd! Great times at Oliver’s, The Local and playing The Blasket for the first time. What a lovely month!
New YouTube video today! The Repressions perform their song “Down,” live, by request, from their live show on Twitch.
Down was the second song written by The Repressions, back in February of 2015. The song deals with giving in to things that comfort you when you are unwell. You can find the lyrics in the video description.
The first OG Songwriter’s Showcase went so well, the Repressions are going to do it again!
Join The Repressions for the March 19th show at The Organic Grill, with talented artists Kiisrtin Marilyn and Rick Rocker!
Kiirstin Marilyn (she/her) is a singer-songwriter, actor and activist. She has appeared on USA Network’s, Mr. Robot, Starz’ Hightown, and will soon be seen on season 2 of Peacock TV’s Dr. Death. Kiirstin is co-creator of the sketch comedy duo, Goddamn Vegan S.O.B.s, and her music can be found on all major streaming platforms. Follow her on Instagram and tiktok: @kiirstinmarilyn and @gdvegansobs
With an infusion of modern sonic sensibilities, New York City-bred recording artist, Rick Rocker manages to crack open the time capsule on all we know and love of rock and roll. “He writes songs that are near-instant anthems, made for shouting from rooftops, an arena or just your own bedrooms,” says Queens Tribune. Transparency & vulnerability are recurring pillars throughout Rocker’s previous releases including his acclaimed EP, “Love Turn” (2020.) You can find his music on all major streaming platforms and learn more at rickrockermusic.com. Follow him @rickrockermusic
Thank you to Chaos Pixie for organizing the event, and playing that high energy music, along with cool and soulful artists Carissa Johnson and Step Neck! There were two extra crowds at the venue from earlier in the day that stayed for the show~ and The Repressions would like to think that their cover of the Pokemon theme song helped bring everyone together. It was a raucous night of inclusion, community and music!
The first OG Songwriter’s Showcase was such a hit, the Repressions are going to do it again!
Many thanks to The Organic Grill, wonderful artists Natalie Asport and Sara No H, and the lovely crowd that came out on Sunday. We’ll see you again on Sunday March 19th with a new lineup!
The Repressions were honored to be part of V.O.I.C.E. 4 Change this fall, an Art as Activism group in NYC organized by author and activist Vigilante Vegan. Follow them for more performances from artists of all kinds who defend animals!

Lift your head up, lift your head up, lift your head up, lift your head up now! It is about truly taking in all of the beauty in the moments and the world around you, and also about looking directly at the things in our world that need action and reform. Here is a live performance from The Repressions’ latest show at c’mon everybody in Brooklyn.
The Repressions are back to the in-person stage after two years of livestreaming-only, with two shows in July (7/13 and 7/30.) First up, you are invited to LIC Bar in Long Island City, Queens, an open, relaxing venue that is a constant for terrific live indie music. On Wednesday July 13th, The Repressions join Alexander Bishop (8pm) and Elliot Greer (10pm) and will take the stage at 9pm. Admission is free, feelings will be felt and there are so many songs to share!
