Monday July 9 – LIC Bar 45-58 Vernon Blvd, Long Island City, NY 11101
The Repressions, Assassination Plot and Coyote Cinema – quite a coincidence that Ben Absurdo is in all three of these bands. It’s a great night for weirdos and beautiful music. Free show!
Lovely show this weekend in Brooklyn… happy to be part of such a talented lineup with Man Made Hills, Adequate Fur, Belle-Skinner and Nate Jones. Thank you to everyone who came out!
Ginger Dizzy is an important song for The Repressions, as it tends to make audiences happy and sing along, which is one of the most meaningful things that music can do. It is also the song that inspired the “vaudeville” part of The Repressions’ style. There are quite a few versions out there, Barbara and Ben, just Barbara, just Nate, the recorded version with Barbara and Nate, but this live performance captured this week actually features all three Repressions… the new definitive version…
Sometimes it is better, or maybe a little necessary, to be hazy and out of it, rather than sad… of only for a little while… Confusion you can choose is better than the blues…
Wishing you a gentle day, friends… Nate and Barbara cover Island Song by Ashley Eriksson (you know that lovely song on the closing credits of Adventure Time…)
