Thank you to Chaos Pixie for organizing the event, and playing that high energy music, along with cool and soulful artists Carissa Johnson and Step Neck! There were two extra crowds at the venue from earlier in the day that stayed for the show~ and The Repressions would like to think that their cover of the Pokemon theme song helped bring everyone together. It was a raucous night of inclusion, community and music!
The first OG Songwriter’s Showcase was such a hit, the Repressions are going to do it again!
Many thanks to The Organic Grill, wonderful artists Natalie Asport and Sara No H, and the lovely crowd that came out on Sunday. We’ll see you again on Sunday March 19th with a new lineup!
Nate and Barbara celebrate the new year, five times now, with a new video of BRIGHT LIGHTS. This year features all electronic instrumentation, with live vocals, set to over 50 live performances of the song in 2022.
The Repressions are back to the in-person stage after two years of livestreaming-only, with two shows in July (7/13 and 7/30.) First up, you are invited to LIC Bar in Long Island City, Queens, an open, relaxing venue that is a constant for terrific live indie music. On Wednesday July 13th, The Repressions join Alexander Bishop (8pm) and Elliot Greer (10pm) and will take the stage at 9pm. Admission is free, feelings will be felt and there are so many songs to share!
What a fantastic show! Many thanks to 4 Brown Eyes, Sidecar Studios and Astoria Music Collective for including us with these incredible duos. 4 Brown Eyes streams live here on Facebook every week, with showcases on Saturdays. Hot Glue and The Gun give you a music and art experience, check out the Gluey Zoomy Show on their YouTube channel. No Grudges just released their first single “Put It Together” on all music streaming services. Listen, follow, watch these duos, they are doing amazing work!
Last year Nate and Barbara celebrated New Year’s Eve with merriment and music, and a video for their song Bright Lights. They decided to make this a tradition, and this year the lyrics are on screen. Bright Lights is a journey of love and change, reconciling our natural selves in the modern world, and leaping into your life even when you cannot see.
The Repressions are grateful to have played so many live shows in 2019, including the NYC Veggie Pride Parade in Union Square and Kingston Animalia Concert at BSP Kingston! Thank you to these terrific New York venues and events: The Local, Espresso 77, East Village Social, Irish Whiskey Bar, Union Square Park, Make Music New York, Jack Jones, Dolphin Bookshop & Cafe, Belvedere, LIC Bar, Kumon Awards Ceremony, Athens Square Park, RaR Bar, Shore Fest, Uke Hut, BSP Kingston, The Way Station, The Quays, Shillelagh Tavern, The Mad Donkey, and Marine Terrace.
