Sometimes it is okay to wish to be hazy and dreamy, instead of sad. Our imaginations can take us to beautiful, perhaps healing places.
Ginger Dizzy is an important song for The Repressions, as it tends to make audiences happy and sing along, which is one of the most meaningful things that music can do. It is also the song that inspired the “vaudeville” part of The Repressions’ style. There are quite a few versions out there, Barbara and Ben, just Barbara, just Nate, the recorded version with Barbara and Nate, but this live performance captured this week actually features all three Repressions… the new definitive version…
Sometimes it is better, or maybe a little necessary, to be hazy and out of it, rather than sad… of only for a little while… Confusion you can choose is better than the blues…
And so… the gig at Terra Firma has been moved down the street to Wayward Social, a place that The Repressions have never played before… That’s good and fun stuff! So, two Saturday nights, two shows, both with groovy lineups and both free entry.. See you there. We will save a prize for you.
