Where can I see the band live?
The Repressions perform monthly all over New York City, at small to medium sized venues in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. In the summer they play festivals and tours. They live stream twice a week on Twitch. You can find invitations to the shows here : SHOW SCHEDULE , and also on all social media and music platforms.
What is Twitch? Is it free?
Twitch is a global live stream site, where you can watch creators and join in the chat from your computer or mobile device. Twitch is free to watch on the internet, even if you do not have an account. If you want to join the show chat, make song requests, and cheer, you can make a free account with your email address. Twitch is for ages 13 and up.
How do I book the band?
The Repressions have various set lists for private events, including weddings, children’s events, and cover set lists that can be tailored to musical eras. Please email booking@therepressions.com with your date, time, event, and stage requirements, and we will reply to your inquiry within 24 hours.
What is forest-music/folk-punk?
Whenever The Repressions have been asked to define their musical genre, they ask the audience what they hear, and while they get many answers from jazz to funk to bluegrass, “Forest Music” and “Folk-Punk” are frequent. These two ideas represent the dreamy, softer songs, and the lively protest songs. On any official platform, The Repressions are categorized as Indie Rock and/or Alternative Rock. The Repressions are “indie” because they publish and relase work on their own independent label, Colorful Castle. The Repressions are “alternative rock” because their songs feature guitars, keys, and vocals, but experiment with style and genre with those instruments. Calling it Forest-Music/Folk-Punk gives an idea of the song content within that type of music.
Who makes the artwork?
The original artwork for The Represssions album art, singles, song title cards, and comics are all made by Barbara or Nate. Each has studied and worked as visual and graphic artists in tandem with their music career. They use mixed media, largely pencil, ink, acrylic paint, and oil paint. Where can I listen to the album and singles?
You can find The Repressions official tracks on all music platforms, many of which are free to listen to. Click on the widgets at the top of this very website for Spotify, Apple Music, etc.. For songs that are not yet released, you can find live versions on Youtube. If you would like to purchase your own download, go to Bandcamp. You can also find covenient links for Spotify, Apple Music and more by simply typing the band name into a search engine.
